Sourdough bread is a type of bread made by the fermentation of dough using wild lactobacillus and yeast. The fermentation process produces lactic acid, which imparts a sour taste and improves the keeping qualities of the bread. Sourdough bread is known for its crusty yet airy texture and distinct flavor. Unlike other yeast bread recipes that use baker’s yeast as the leavening agent, traditional sourdough recipes use a starter made of water and flour. The starter ferments over time, producing natural yeast and the slightly acidic flavor that sets sourdough apart. Although sourdough bread can be relatively easy to make, it can be intimidating for new bakers because it’s more time-consuming than other types of homemade bread. Our sourdough process takes from start to finish 18 + hours for each loaf. The longer a loaf proofs, the less gluten it will have and the better rise, taste and structure it will have. The rustic quality of Onic Brands Sourdough Bread is like none other as all sourdough loaves are one of a kind and made by hand and love.
Upon ordering you will be given a pickup date and time. Please note most orders need a 2-3 day lead window for completion depending on our baking schedule. Additionally, we are a homemade scratch kitchen. WE ARE NOT INSPECTED BY THE HEALTH FOOD DEPARTMENT. However, we do operate under the Cottage Law of the State of Texas.
